Rafael Samot-Cortes

Mr. Rafael Samot, born in Isabela, PR on Feb. 9, 1930 has passed away on Jan. 7, 2021 in Lakeland, Fl.
 

He was a cabinet maker by trade. Later, to keep busy, he drove for the famed Yellow Cab Company of Miami, Fl.  Afterwards he retired permanently to Lakeland, FL.
 

Mr. Samot was the Patriarch of a large extended family. He was a father to 8 children. One son, Rafael Samot Jr., who sadly predeceased him.  He is survived by seven daughters,17 of his 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, & 7 great great grand children.  He was beloved by his family but as much as he loved & treasured his family his love of sports was right up there. He was an avid watcher of baseball & boxing.  He loved playing cards & dominoes with his family.  He also enjoyed playing Bingo with his friends & neighbors. He was beloved & respected by all who knew him. He will be remembered fondly and missed greatly.
