Pastor Rusty Herrington was born in March 1962 to Robert “Bob” and Margaret “Peg” Herrington in Lakeland, Florida. Rusty went home to be with his Lord on August 28, 2021 while surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.
Rusty shared his life with his beloved wife of 30 years, Angela Jean Herrington, and the enormous family they created together. Together Rusty and Angel raised a family they treasured dearly. 7 kids and their spouses, 5 grandkids, and 1 great nephew were without a doubt Rusty’s pride and joy.
The only thing Rusty loved more than his family was his Lord. Rusty faithfully served in ministry for more than 30 years. Most recently Pastor Rusty was the lead Pastor at The Revolution Church in Lakeland, Florida where he was loved beyond measure. Not a Sunday would go by where Pastor Rusty wouldn’t be up on stage worshipping his Lord with a goofy dance and bringing the word in his own unique way, usually keeping the congregation on the edge of their seats. Pastor Rusty also served as the chaplain for a local motorcycle ministry, The Revolution Riders, a ministry near and dear to his heart.
Rusty is preceded in his homegoing by his father Robert Herrington. He left behind his wife- Angel, Children- Nikki (Matthew) Poe, Phillip (Lindsey) Herrington, Brittany (Keith) Carlson, Desiree (Oakley) Sharpe, Ryan Herrington, Cameron Herrington, Michelle (Scott) Phillippi, Grandchildren- Aurora, Knox, Colton, Emily, and Hunter, Great-Nephew Bentley, Mother- Peg, and Siblings- Teresa (Mike) Williams, Kim (David) Mauldin, and Bobby Herrington along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends he called family.
Outside of his family and his church, Rusty was passionate about his country, motorcycles, and the Miami Hurricanes, for whom he was a die-hard fan.
There will be a celebration of life on October 2nd, 2021 open for all who knew and loved Pastor Rusty. The celebration of life will be held outside at The Revolution Church (7315 Kathleen Rd) at 5pm.
