LAKELAND, FL – On August 9, 2020, Mildred (Millie) Sickles, 87, peacefully passed away while surrounded by her loving children in Lakeland. Her husband, Dwight Sickles, preceded her in death. They were married on June 18, 1955. Both were active members of Faith Lutheran Church in Lakeland, FL.
She was born in Rudd, Iowa, on August 30, 1932 to the late Alfred and Ella Brocker. She was also preceded in death by her sister Beverly (Donald) Mix. She is survived by her children: Bradley Sickles of Alexandria, VA; Brian Sickles of Lakeland, FL; Julie (Larry) Streit of Homosassa, FL; Steven (Jennifer) Sickles of Winter Springs, FL; her brother Donald (Virginia) Brocker of Woodbury, MN; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The grandchildren are Brittany (Josh) Biles, Elisabeth (John) Latimer, Amy Sickles, Jonathan Sickles, Sydney Sickles, Zachary Sickles, and Zoey Sickles. Her great-grandchild is Gage Biles.
She retired from Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center after a 45 year career as a registered nurse. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved sewing, cooking, playing cards, and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.
A private service and burial will be held by the family at Oak Hill Cemetery.
