Obituary
John Speece Sawyer of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Hospice on August 23, 2023. John was born in Bartow on January 19, 1965 to Patricia and Harry Sawyer. He was a lifelong Lakeland resident. John never met a stranger. He spent his career in sales. He was a talented drummer, who loved entertaining his friends with his witty jokes, and grilling on the weekends. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and surfing. John was a husband, a father, a brother, a granddad, and a friend to so many. He will be missed. He was predeceased by his parents, Patricia Sawyer, Harry and Nancy Sawyer, and sister Melanie Harden. He is survived by his wife Kim; daughter Crystal Welsh; brothers Pete (Carol) Sawyer, Trey (Terri) Harden, and Gary (Beth) Sawyer. Also, his grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at David Russell Funeral Home on Friday, September 1st , at 2:00pm. Pastor Brett Foster, officiating. A Gathering of Friends to follow at Gators Dockside in Highland City (Publ ix Shopping Plaza on Hwy 98 S.).
In lieu of fowers, donations can be made to Boys and Girls Club of Polk County.
