Jason Julius Benton, Sr.

August 18, 1975 – June 15, 2022 (age 46)

Mr. Jason Julius Benton, Sr., of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at home.

Jason began his journey August 18, 1975, in Bartow, Florida, born to Butch Benton and Esther Angel Yereb. Jason was raised in Tampa, FL (111 Gilchrist Ave.) and later returned to Lakeland, Florida.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Butch Benton and Esther Angel Yereb and by his sister Sherry Renee Benton (Hart). He is survived by his children, Maria Benton, D.J. Benton, McKenzie Benton and Jason Benton, II; brother, Nathan Durrance, sisters, Angel Yereb, Samantha Scott, Candra Brinson and two (2) stepsisters. Jason has eight (8) grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, as well as countless other family members, friends and loved ones.

Jason was a strong, outspoken man, as well as outgoing and above all, a loving man willing to give the shirt off his back for anyone. While he was never afraid to speak his mind, he also believed family was over everything. As many would agree, Jason never met a person he didn’t know, instead you became family!

As kind and loving as Jason was to those friends, he became family with, he was even more fierce as a brother, father, uncle and grandfather. You may not have always seen eye to eye with him, but his love never diminished! Not only did you know when he was upset with you, you also knew how proud he was or how loved you were. He was as real as real could possibly get.

Jason was known by many, loved by all. He has been cherished by countless people in life, as he will be missed beyond words in death. His memory shall be carried on, held close to the hearts of all he has left behind.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 23, at 2pm at Christ Memorial Church, 2929 Hardin Combee Rd., Lakeland, Florida 33801.
