Herbert Larson passed away on July 21, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones.
Herbert was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 19, 1931 to Herbert L Larson, Sr and Ellen, and was baptized on September 27, 1931. After his parents passed, he was sent to live with family in Wisconsin, and grew up on a dairy farm, where he learned to love and appreciate all kinds of animals. In school, Herbert was a member of the boys' choir and basketball team. In 1949, he joined the US Air Force and worked as a culinary artist. During that time, he met Vonell Redfern, whom he later married. He was honorably discharged, as Airman First Class, in 1953.
Herbert and Vonell married on January 26, 1952. They raised their son, Danny together and shared 60 wonderful years together.
Herbert worked as a heavy equipment operator for an asphalt company, and used his skills to create a beautiful oasis for Vonell. He spent his free time using rocks and asphalt to make waterfalls and other parts of the oasis. He also enjoyed riding his Panhead Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Herbert is preceded in death by his wife, Vonell, who passed on Jan 25, 2011, one day shy of the couple's 60th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his son, Danny Ballard, Sr, grandchildren, Danny Jr, Wendy, and Douglas, great grandchildren, Samantha, Jarrett, Danielle, and great great grandson, Elijah.
