Bernard “Bernie” Charles Graves Sr, age 81, of Lakeland, FL, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2023. He was born October 21, 1941, in Allegan, Michigan to Walter Lacey Graves and Viola Alice Graves (Ball). He is survived by his companion in life of 37 years, Sandra “Sandy” Olszewski; his children Bernard “Ben” Graves Jr. and his wife Renee, Phoebe Twigg (Graves) and her husband Edward, Deborah Levy (Olszewski), Richard Olszewski, and Kimberly Johns (Olszewski); and his grandchildren: Darby Weist (Twigg) and her husband Casey, Ean Twigg, Patience Graves, Benjamin “Jack” Graves; Charles “Charlie” Bell, Jade Johns and her significant other Steven Vaught, and Jonathan Levy. He is also survived by his brother, Walter L. Graves and his wife Peggy, his sister Ann O’Roark and her husband Charles; and multiple nieces and nephews. A special thanks to his niece, Stephanie Sallisky who helped take care of him and Sandy over the years.
Bernie worked for Toyota for over 40 years as an auto mechanic. He was a very talented mechanic and loved working with his hands. His passions included motorcycles, fishing, his spiritual beliefs, and family. He never met an animal that did not love him. He will be deeply missed.
