Richard Manuel Garcia, Rich to his family and friends, passed away at the young age of 45 in Lakeland on Sunday, June 11. 2017, at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.

Rich was born on July 26, 1971 in Newark, New Jersey to Jose and Carmen Garcia. He has a brother , Eric and sister, Erica.

On March 16, 2013, Rich married his wife, Lakisha Spletzer-Garcia, in Inverness Florida and became a stepfather to her two daughters, Alea and Shenoah.

Rich was a graduate of Bloomfield Tech and also attended college. He worked at various jobs including Geico, Advantage Travel, Sykes and Progressive to name an few.

A man of many talents, Rich played Heroclix, collected comics, did role-playing adventures with his friends and one of his proudest achievements, becoming a published author of The Foundlings vampire series.

Rich is survived by his spouse, Lakisha Spletzer-Garcia, His stepchildren Alea and Shenoah, his parents Jose and Carmen Garcia, his brother Eric, his sister Erica and three nieces, two nephews, and several cousins.

A remembrance service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 2 pm. at the Colonnades Clubhouse in Lakeland, Florida. The funeral home in charge of the arrangements is David Russell Funeral Home.
