Laurel Ash Stevens

Loving Wife and Mother...

November 28, 1982 ~ May 20, 2017

Laurel Ash Stevens (age 34) of Lakeland, Florida, passed peacefully at her home at 10pm on Saturday May 20th 2017 with her family at her bedside. She had fought and beaten cancer for four years in order to stay with her family and be a mother to her children.

Laurel was born in Colusa, California to mother Stephanie Boggs, father Derrick Ash and a large and loving extended family. She became a world traveler at a young age, she studied in Spain, New Zealand, and many other locations. In 2006 she graduated from Humboldt State University with a BA in international relations. While she continued her education to become an esthetician she was hired as a baker and barista at a cafe in Arcata California. The owner of the cafe returned from a business trip several weeks later and fell in love with her at first sight. Corey Stevens proposed to her in May of 2009 and they moved to Florida together to start a family.

Laurel was a founding esthetician at the End Results Salon Spa in Lakeland Florida where she offered luxury facial treatments and made lifetime friendships with her clients and co-workers.

She left work in 2012 to become a full-time mother. In 2013 her life was saved by the doctors and nurses at Lakeland Regional Medical Center and South Florida Baptist Hospital when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. She went on to regain her strength and overcome many challenges become the inspirational and beautiful mother that she is remembered as today.

In 2015 her children entered preschool at Magnolia Montessori Academy where she became an active volunteer and member of the community. The friendships that Laurel made at the school became family and the community that she created continues to nurture and lift up her children.

She was preceded by her grandparents Logan, Barbara and Garvin, her aunt Heidi and her Stepfather Bill. She leaves behind her three children Charlie, Samantha and Rosemary, her husband Corey, her mother Stephanie, her father Derrick, her grandmother Marlene, her siblings Jacee, Sadie and Jordan, her many aunts, uncles, cousins and the extended family and community of loved ones that was so inspired by her.

A celebration of life service will be held for her at 2pm on Sunday June 4th at the Presbyterian Chapel in the Grove (1540 New Jersey RD, Lakeland FL 33803) followed by a public reception and continued celebration at 801 Main (801 E Main St, Lakeland, FL 33801) from 6pm-10pm.

She will return to her home in California following the services in Florida. On June 10th at 9am a celebration of her spirit and memory will be held at the Masonic Lodge in Williams CA. Her remains will rest with the Boggs family in the Colusa Cemetery.
