Ildefonso C. Cuevas was born on July 4, 1944 in Lamayarias, Puerto Rico to Anastacio and Carmen Cardona. They moved to the United States in 1957. Ildefonso went home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2018 in Lakeland, Florida.
Ildefonso is preceded in his passing by his parents, his grandaughter, Noel Cuevas (Virginia) and two nephews Miguel Rosado and Vincent Flores (both of Youngstown, Ohio). He is succeeded in his passing by his wife of 45 years, Judith Cardona. Additionally, he is survived by his children Rene Cuevas (Dale) (California), Tony Cuevas (Ohio) Eddie Cuevas (Virginia), Rebecca Cardona (Clarence) of (Michigan), Moises Cardona (Sherrie) (Lakeland, Florida), and Joel Cardona (Youngstown, Ohio).
Further is his succeded by 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Ildefonso is affectionately known to his friends and family as “Tarzan” mainly for his ability and his skill in the sport of boxing. Ildefonso is a member of the Ohio Athletic Commission, the USA Amature Boxing Federation (as a coach), and he was a Golden Gloves boxing trainer. Boxing was his passion.
Ildefonso, although he had a love for boxing, he had a greater love, for his family, children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He was an outgoing man, with a great sense of humor, he was the rock of his family and he ruled his home with structure, discipline and love.
Ildefonso was loved by many and will be missed greatly by all.
Ildefonso's family will escort him back to Ohio for lay him to rest in his final resting place.
