Mr. James Calvin Back of Lakeland, Florida and formerly of Macomb Twp., Michigan passed away peacefully June 22nd, at his home.

He was born February 22, 1924 in Asbury, Illinois to Mary and George Back.

James is preceded in death by his parents and 9 siblings. He is the last of the family.

James is survived by his wife, BK, of 35 years. Also survived by his 4 children; Kathleen (Ed) Fournier, Donna (Dennis) Carter, James C. Back II and Gregory (Patti) Back. Additionally, he is survived by his 11 loving grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, all who live in Michigan. Also a stepson, Michael Kasmarek and 2 step-grandchildren, of California

Furthermore, he is survived by his dear friends Karen and Al, and 100's of nieces and nephews throughout the Country.

James was a World War II Navy Veteran who served on several merchant ships and traveled the World during the War. He was proud of his service to his Country and felt fortunate that he was able to see so many different countries while serving the United States military.

He was able to travel on the Honor Flight with his son to see the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. He told everyone how he got to visit the Lincoln Memorial, which he also loved seeing. It was a great trip for him.

His children grew up hearing the stories of his adventures while in military service. These stories have gone on to be shared with his grandchildren. 

He was very proud of all of his grandchildren and would share this with everyone in which he spoke. He made a point that each of his grandchildren knew how proud he was of all of them.

Mr. Back was also a man who loved music and to dance.

Mr. Back worked as a millwright for Chrysler in Highland Park, Michigan for 30 years.

James is now with his heavenly family and will be missed by all he left behind and that have such wonderful memories of him.

A Memorial Service is planned for a later date by his family, to be held in Michigan. He will be inurned at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to a hospice provider of your choice.
